At QS ImpACT, a UNEP-accredited global charity, we connect universities, organisations, and communities worldwide to foster young talent and lead impactful change for a regenerative future. Last year, our initiatives impacted over 112,000 people across 87 countries, with a thriving community of over 2,100 members and 50 Youth Ambassadors. Every year, QS ImpACT celebrates and recognizes youth who are making a positive impact in their communities through initiatives aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Meet Mayowa Oniosun, one of our remarkable QS ImpACT Awards Alumni from Nigeria, who received the Climate Response Champion Award. Through his dedicated climate education initiative, around 400 young people in the Ikep Ikot Nkon community of Akwa Ibom State have gained practical ideas and solutions to combat the effects of climate change.
Educating youth is vital—it’s like planting seeds for a better future. Mayowa’s project has made a lasting impact over the past six months, equipping young minds with knowledge that will help them make informed decisions for years to come.
But this project is more than just teaching; it’s about inspiring secondary school students to connect their career dreams with environmental responsibility. Mayowa’s innovative approach is resonating with thousands of youths across over ten vulnerable communities in the Niger Delta Region. By nurturing this environmentally aware mindset, he’s helping to shape a generation of leaders ready to confront the pressing challenges of climate change.
The QS ImpACT Awards are our organisation’s flagship event, celebrating global regeneration and honouring exceptional youth leaders. In 2023, youth around the world made significant impact on their communities, aligning with the SDGs. Among 45 finalists from 18 countries, eight winners were awarded and celebrated for their transformative contributions.
