The Skills Challenge is a global initiative designed to empower young people to tackle the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through social innovation, tech-for-good, and creative collaboration. This challenge invites young people worldwide to create innovative games that address global sustainability challenges, while equipping them with essential skills in sustainability and innovation.

The 2024 edition of the Skills Challenge began on June 6th 2024, engaging over 1,000 youths from 24 countries and 58 universities worldwide. Expert judges are currently reviewing the games and selecting a winner for the QS ImpACT Skills Challenge Award, who will be featured at the QS ImpACT Awards and Reimagine Education Awards in December 2024 in London, UK.

QS ImpACT is delighted to announce that the 2025 Skills Challenge edition will be launched on February 27, 2025. Next year’s challenge will feature two tracks: a “Beginner: No-Code” track, for those new to game development and an “Advanced” track for those with coding experience, offering mixed-format training delivered by industry experts. All participating teams will benefit from expert-educator-led training sessions when the competition launches, after which they will develop and submit their games.

We are also thrilled to announce Zoom Communications, Inc. as our title sponsor for Skills Challenge 2025, alongside education sponsors Arizona State University’s Next Lab and the University of Exeter, and industry expert partner J.P. Morgan and Unity. We extend our sincere gratitude for their support as we launch the second edition of the Skills Challenge globally, empowering young innovators to tackle sustainability challenges head-on.

All training sessions occur on Zoom, ensuring accessibility and collaboration among youth from various backgrounds. The Skills Challenge 2025 will serve as a premier platform for young innovators worldwide to blend sustainability, innovation, and creative collaboration, to make a positive impact on the world.
