On the morning of May 7, 2024, the QS ImpACT team was buzzing with excitement, ready to start an important journey and exciting activity! A community outreach activity was organised by Confidence Mawusi, the Community Engagement Coordinator at QS ImpACT, in collaboration with volunteers of QS Quacquarelli Symonds and its university partners, Tulane University – Freeman School of Business, and The Catholic University of America.
This activity aimed to meet and interact with the students of Mamprobi Socco H/H School in Accra, Ghana. All our volunteers came together with a shared mission: to inspire change in young minds.
For over three hours, our dedicated volunteers engaged first to ninth-grade students in different interactive activities. These peer-to-peer teaching sessions ignited curiosity as students eagerly discussed topics such as technology, career paths, health and hygiene, climate change, and entrepreneurship. These conversations brought the students and volunteers together, allowing them to interact and learn a great deal from one another.
In a show of our commitment to the environment, our team and volunteers also planted six fruit trees on the school grounds, symbolising our dedication to combating climate change and promoting sustainability at a local level.
Our visit had a profound impact that extended beyond the students of the classroom. For some volunteers, it was their first time experiencing the beauty of Ghana, while for others, it was their first ever visit to Africa. This community outreach activity was an enlightening experience for both students and volunteers who come from different parts of the world, broadening their understanding of other cultures.
The collaborative effort left a lasting impression on everyone involved. The students gained fresh motivation and optimism for a brighter future. At QS ImpACT, we are committed to making a positive difference and hope to bring these transformative community outreach programs to future QS fairs around the world.
