QS World Merit awards scholarships for incoming first-year students who make a positive impact in their society. Each scholarship winner will receive up to $10,000 towards their first-year tuition fees. Our team is really excited to be able to provide young people who lead positive change with equal opportunity earned on merit. We support global citizens contributing to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through their work with communities, local and global, with life-changing opportunities.

QS World Merit Social Responsibility Scholarship Winner: Illustrious Amaewhule Ewhorlu
This scholarship is awarded to an incoming first-year master’s student who has created a significant impact in the field of environmental awareness and social responsibility. Illustrious from Nigeria is pursuing his M.S. in Sustainability at Tufts University, USA. He is a climate activist and has been advocating for sustainable energy.
QS World Merit MBA Academic Excellence Scholarship Winner: Abhishek Tandon
This scholarship is designed to empower an incoming first-year master’s student with a remarkable level of academic excellence to take up various fields of study and innovate solutions to help their community. Abhishek is from India pursuing M.S. in Computer Vision at Carnegie Mellon University, USA. During his undergraduate years, he built a robot to help seniors carry their bags using artificial intelligence.
QS World Merit MBA Leadership Scholarship Winner: Hannah Zhang
This scholarship is awarded to an incoming first-year MBA or EMBA student who has demonstrated high leadership abilities and innovative thinking that contributed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Hannah is from Mexico and is pursuing her MBA at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, USA. She was the Head of Strategy at DiDi and has volunteered as the lead for the company’s Women’s Employee Resource Group.
QS World Merit MBA Community Scholarship Winners: Shaan Kumar and Constantin Zavvos
This scholarship awards two incoming first-year MBA or EMBA students with socially responsible leadership skills, the ability to motivate others, and has made a significant contribution to their communities. Shaan is from India, pursuing MBA at IESE Business School in Belgium. As the former Global Ambassador of (QS) World Merit Charity amongst many other hats, she is a committed sustainability leader and wishes to tackle global problems head-on.
Constantin from Belgium is heading over to Columbia Business School to pursue his MBA. He founded TeachForBetter, a charitable association that matches volunteers with community charities.
QS World Merit Undergraduate Scholarship Winner: Riya Sharma
This scholarship is awarded to an incoming first-year student of any undergraduate degree at any QS-ranked university, who is determined to contribute to the UN SDGs through their education. Riya from India is pursuing her undergraduate degree at the University of California, Berkeley (UBC). She established her own non-profit Biology For Better which supports STEM education in rural schools worldwide.
QS World Merit Women in Higher Education Scholarship Winner: Adaiya Granberry
This scholarship awards up to US$5,000 to one student with a strong sense of social awareness and has contributed to reducing inequality in their community and is keen to create a more equal world. Adaiya is from the USA and is pursuing her MS at the Royal College of Art, UK.
