Nairobi, Kenya – 27th February 2024: QS ImpACT Charity, a UNEP accredited organization, recently attended the sixth session of the United Nations Environment Assembly held at the United Nations Environment Program HQ in Nairobi. The session focused on how multilateralism can help tackle the triple planetary crisis of climate change, nature and biodiversity loss, and pollution and waste.
During their time in Nairobi, one of the team’s priorities was on engaging with youth and providing them with valuable insights into the organization’s mission and opportunities for involvement.
As part of their youth engagement initiatives, QS ImpACT partnered with Strathmore University to host an informative session titled “How Community ImpACT Leads to Scholarships & Awards“. The event, held on 27th February 2024 at the Microsoft Auditorium in Strathmore University, attracted over 100 enthusiastic attendees, with more than 200 youth signing up for the session.
The session began with opening remarks from Prof. Izael Da Silva, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Strathmore University, who highlighted the institution’s commitment to sustainability, and shared about their commitment for each graduating student to have completed 200+ hours of volunteer work to complete their studies. This was followed by a presentation from Ms. Beth Eden, CEO of QS ImpACT, who introduced attendees to the organization’s mission and opportunities for youth involvement. Throughout the session, speakers from both QS ImpACT and Strathmore University shared insights and case studies on community impact initiatives.
Mr. Michael Babu, Community Service Centre Manager at Strathmore University, discussed the university’s community engagement efforts, while Mr. Confidence Mawusi, Community Engagement Coordinator at QS ImpACT, highlighted the various QS ImpACT scholarships that are granted to youth for exceptional social impact activities and academic excellence.
Ms. Aashna Shah, Senior Program Officer at QS ImpACT, provided information on the QS ImpACT awards, and how they are a celebration of outstanding youth achievements in social impact. The attendees were encouraged to make an impact in their local communities to become eligible for these awards.
Additionally, Mr. Albert Gubanja, President of the DRC Council of QS ImpACT shared his journey as a pivotal member of the QS ImpACT community and council president, and Ms. Christer Anditi, Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Stellenbosch University and alumna of the Future17 Program (a university program supported by QS ImpACT) shared her experience about her participation in the program.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Ms. Jackline Chibai, Strategy and Quality Assurance Director at Strathmore University, emphasizing the importance of sustainability and community impact.
Overall, the information session provided attendees with valuable insights on joining the QS ImpACT community, making a positive impact in their local communities, and earning recognition through awards and scholarships. The interactive nature of the session fostered meaningful engagement and networking opportunities among participants.

Donner aux Jeunes les Moyens d’avoir un Impact Communautaire : Séance d’Information par QS ImpACT et Strathmore University
Nairobi, Kenya – 27 février 2024: QS ImpACT Charity, une organisation accréditée par le PNUE, a récemment participé à la sixième session de l’Assemblée des Nations Unies pour l’Environnement qui s’est tenue au siège du Programme des Nations Unies pour l’Environnement à Nairobi. L’UNEA-6 s’est concentrée sur la manière dont le multilatéralisme peut aider à résoudre la triple crise planétaire du changement climatique, de la perte de la nature et de la biodiversité, et de la pollution et des déchets.
Pendant leur séjour à Nairobi, l’une des priorités de l’équipe était de s’engager avec les jeunes et de leur fournir des informations précieuses sur la mission de l’organisation et les opportunités de participation.
Dans le cadre de leurs initiatives d’engagement des jeunes, QS ImpACT s’est associé à Strathmore University pour organiser une session informative intitulée “How Community ImpACT Leads to Scholarships & Awards“. L’événement, qui s’est tenu le 27 février à l’auditorium Microsoft de Strathmore University, a attiré plus de 100 participants enthousiastes, avec plus de 200 jeunes inscrits pour la session.
La session a débuté par des remarques d’ouverture du Prof. Izael Da Silva, Vice-Chancelier Adjoint de Strathmore University, mettant en lumière l’engagement de l’institution envers la durabilité. Il a expliqué que chaque étudiant diplômé de Strathmore University effectue plus de 200 heures de travail bénévole avant de terminer ses études.
Cela a été suivi par une présentation de Mme Beth Eden, PDG de QS ImpACT, qui a présenté la mission de l’organisation et les opportunités de participation des jeunes. Tout au long de la session, des intervenants de QS ImpACT et de Strathmore University ont partagé des informations et des études de cas sur les initiatives communautaires.

Albert Gubanja, Président du Conseil DRC de QS ImpACT, a partagé son parcours en tant que membre clé de la communauté QS ImpACT et président du conseil, et Mme Christer Anditi, Chercheuse Postdoctorale à l’Université Stellenbosch et ancienne du Programme Future17 (un programme universitaire soutenu par QS ImpACT), a partagé son expérience de participation au programme.
L’événement s’est conclu par des remarques de clôture de Mme Jackline Chibai, Directrice de la Stratégie et de l’Assurance Qualité à Strathmore University, mettant l’accent sur l’importance de la durabilité et de l’impact communautaire.
Dans l’ensemble, la session d’information a fourni aux participants des informations précieuses sur la manière de rejoindre la communauté QS ImpACT, de faire un impact positif dans leurs communautés locales et d’obtenir une reconnaissance grâce à des prix et des bourses d’études.
La session s’est terminée par une séance de questions-réponses interactive qui a encouragé un engagement significatif et des opportunités de réseautage entre les intervenants et les participants.
